GeM Portal Login: How to Sign In Safely as a Seller or Buyer
By GeMSignal · Updated · 5 min read
Important first: you can only log in to GeM on the official website, gem.gov.in. GeMSignal (this site) has no GeM login and will never ask for your GeM username, password or OTP. This page explains how the official login works and how to fix the usual problems.
How to log in to the GeM portal
The flow is the same for sellers and buyers:
- Type gem.gov.in directly into your browser's address bar (avoid clicking login links from ads, WhatsApp forwards or unknown emails).
- Click the Login button on the top right of the official homepage.
- Enter your GeM User ID, complete the captcha, then enter your password.
- If prompted, enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- You will land on your seller or buyer dashboard.
Forgot your GeM password or User ID?
On the official login screen, use the Forgot Password / Forgot User ID options. GeM will verify you through your registered mobile number or email. If the mobile number linked to your account has changed, you will need to raise a ticket with GeM support through the official portal or helpdesk.
Common GeM login problems and fixes
- Captcha keeps failing — refresh the captcha, disable aggressive ad blockers on gem.gov.in, and make sure your system clock is correct.
- OTP not arriving — check that the registered mobile is reachable and DND is not blocking transactional SMS; wait a minute before requesting again.
- Account locked after wrong attempts — wait for the lock period to expire or use Forgot Password.
- Page not loading at peak times — try again a little later or use a different browser; clearing the cache often helps.
How to spot a fake GeM login page
Because GeM sellers handle government payments, fake login pages and "GeM registration agents" are common. Check these before typing anything:
- The address bar must end in gem.gov.in — not .com, .in, .site, .org or any lookalike spelling.
- GeM seller registration has no registration fee. Anyone charging you to "activate" or "verify" a GeM account is a third party, not GeM.
- GeM staff will not call you asking for your password or OTP.
After you log in: don't spend hours searching for bids
Many sellers log in daily just to scroll through new bids. GeMSignal monitors new GeM bids for you and sends matching ones to email and WhatsApp — you still log in and bid on gem.gov.in, but you skip the manual searching.
Note: GeMSignal is a private service and is not affiliated with the Government e-Marketplace. Rules, thresholds and fees change — always verify on the official portal at gem.gov.in.
